Dubai, between 1993 and 1998 when E11 Road was called Defence Road and later was expanded for 30 kilometers (19 miles) received its glory name Sheikh Zayed Road. Named after then president of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by the Ruler of Dubai at the time, Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
